Ruse is the fifth largest city in Bulgaria. It is located in the northeastern part of the country, on the right bank of the Danube, opposite the Romanian city of Giurgiu, approximately 75 km south of Bucharest, 200 km from the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast and 300 km from the capital Sofia. It is the most significant Bulgarian river port, serving an important part of the international trade of the country.
Ruse is known for its 19th- and 20th-century Neo-Baroque and Neo-Rococo architecture, which attracts many tourists. It is often called the Little Vienna.
Today in Ruse's economy the most developed sectors are from the light industry - clothing and textiles. More than 10 000 people in the city are engaged in apparel production. In Ruse are built more than 15 modern factories, which produce garments for world famous fashion brands, but every of them offers also clothing with its own brand, sold worldwide.
Ruse has become a fashion center of Bulgaria a long time ago, but more and more local citizens dream for Ruse to be talked as for one of the world's fashion capitals.
According to Wikipedia, a fashion capital is a city which has a major influence on international fashion trends and in which the design, production and retailing of fashion products - plus events such as fashion weeks, awards and trade fairs - generate significant economic output.
